“Part of life is in experiencing the ups and downs.” This is absolutely correct in our need to have people who understand us and can be depended on during the tough times. We want to engage in dialogue which will bring about a resolution, in most cases. Firsthand, I can say that strong, positive support can reduce stress. Giving and receiving support from others is a basic human need. The view that any individual is “self-made” or can do it all on their own is a false outlook and based on ego.
